5 Ways To Use Our Green Superfood Blend

Superfoods are foods or drinks with very high nutritional density. Popular superfoods include turmeric, spirulina, blueberries, quinoa, and leafy greens like kale and spinach.

One of the easiest ways to consume superfoods is as a powder made from superfood extracts. These powders - like our Green Superfood Blend - are a great way to add important vitamins, minerals and nutrients to your diet.

But how do you actually include superfood powder in your everyday meals? Read on to discover 5 step-by-step recipes that use Green Superfood Blend.

What is our Green Superfood Blend?

Green Superfood Blend is a powder made from a range of naturally-sourced superfood extracts, including:

  • Spinach
  • Broccoli
  • Barley grass
  • Wheatgrass
  • Kale
  • Camu Camu
  • Seagreens

These extracts are packed with iodine and vitamin C to boost your nutrient intake and support your immune system. You can add Green Superfood Blend to your drinks, desserts, and dips for an extra nutrition kick.

1. Green Superfood Smoothie

Smoothies are perfect for whenever you need a fruity, feel good pick-me-up. And because the only step is throwing all the ingredients in a blender, it’s super easy to add in a wide range of fruits and veggies.

What Are Superfood Smoothies?

Superfood smoothies are fruit smoothies that contain superfoods, either the whole food (eg. a handful of kale), or a powdered extract.

This is a simple smoothie recipe that you can use as a base to add pretty much any fruits you like. The recipe makes 1 serving, but you can always scale it up if you want to make a bulk batch of smoothies to enjoy throughout the week.

Equipment You'll Need

  • Blender
  • Knife

Ingredients

  • 1 apple
  • 1 celery stick
  • Handful of spinach (approx 1 cup or 30g)
  • 100ml plant milk
  • 5g (1 serving) Green Superfood Blend (Strawberry & Lime or Cranberry & Raspberry)
  • (Optional) Additional fruit of your choice - we recommend kiwi, pineapple, raspberry or watermelon

How To Make A Green Superfood Smoothie

  1. Chop the apple and celery stick into small pieces.
  2. Add the apple, celery, spinach, plant milk, Green Superfood Blend, and any additional fruit into the blender and blitz until smooth.
  3. Serve in your favourite glass or shaker.

Top Tips

  • Add a little more plant milk if the smoothie is too thick
  • Chop the apple and celery in advance, and keep fresh in the fridge, to reduce the prep time

Storage

Either enjoy your smoothie straight away, or keep it refrigerated in a shaker or large jar with a lid.

2. Immunity-supporting Protein Balls

Beat that mid-afternoon slump with one of these immunity-supporting protein balls. The combination of nut butter, plant-based protein and superfood powder means that these little snacks really pack a punch.

What Are Protein Balls?

Protein balls are a no-bake snack that you can enjoy at any time of day. This recipe makes approximately 20 protein balls.

Equipment You'll Need

  • Mixing bowl
  • Air-tight container

Ingredients

Dry ingredients

  • 120g rolled oats
  • 2 scoops vanilla Vegan Protein Blend
  • 5g (1 serving) unflavoured Green Superfood Blend
  • 50g dried fruit of your choice (raisins, dried apricots, dried cranberries)

Wet ingredients

How To Make Immunity-supporting Protein Balls

  1. Combine the ingredients in a large bowl until evenly mixed together.
  2. Stir through the peanut butter and maple syrup.
  3. Slowly add the plant milk while mixing until well-combined. The mixture should be soft enough to roll with your hands, but firm enough to hold its shape.
  4. Take small handfuls of the mixture and roll into 20 balls

Top Tips

  • If you prefer your snacks a little sweeter, try the Raspberry & Cranberry Green Superfood Blend instead of the Unflavoured

Storage

Keep the protein balls refrigerated in an air-tight container. Wrap balls in cling film in portions of 2-4 for easy snacking.

4. Vegan Superfood Pesto Pasta

Need something quick and nutritious for a weeknight dinner? Try this twist on pesto pasta that’s full of superfoods and completely vegan!

What Is Pesto?

Pesto is a delicious, herby Italian sauce mainly made of basil leaves and olive oil. Traditional pesto contains hard cheese like parmesan, but we’ve made this recipe vegan-friendly by swapping it out for nutty nutritional yeast.

The secret to this pesto is the green superfood powder, that adds extra herby flavour and a boost of vitamins and minerals.

Equipment You'll Need

  • Food processor
  • Sharp knife
  • Lemon juicer (optional)

Ingredients

  • 5g (1 serving) unflavoured Green Superfood Blend
  • 100g dried wholewheat pasta per person
  • 4 tsp nutritional yeast
  • Juice of half a lemon (about 30ml)
  • 1 tsp garlic granules
  • Large handful of basil

How To Make Vegan Superfood Pesto Pasta

  1. Boil salted water in a medium-sized pan. Once boiling, add wholewheat pasta and simmer for 10-15 minutes.
  2. While pasta is cooking, add the spinach, garlic granules, lemon, nutritional yeast, and Green Superfood Blend into a food processor. Blitz until it forms a thick paste. If the mixture looks too dry, add small amounts of water as needed.
  3. Once the pasta is cooked, drain it, and stir through the superfood pesto.
  4. Garnish with spinach and nutritional yeast and enjoy!

Top Tips

  • Make larger batches of the pesto and refrigerate it in jars to use in other dishes
  • As well as pasta, you can also add this pesto to salads, omelettes, pizzas and more

Storage

Refrigerate pesto pasta in an airtight container, then enjoy cold or reheat in a microwave for the perfect quick lunch.

5. Supergreen Chimichurri

Looking for something a bit spicier than pesto? Then you’ll love this supergreen chimichurri. Try it as a dip for vegan tapas, or a marinade for your favourite plant-based meat alternatives.

What Is Chimichurri?

Chimichurri is a spicy, oil-based sauce with parsley as its main ingredient. It’s a staple in Argentinian and Uruguayan cuisine, usually as a marinade or table condiment for barbecued meats.

The sauce has green (chimichurru verde) and red (chimichurri rojo) variations. Green chimichurri is made from olive oil, parsley, garlic, red wine vinegar, oregano and seasonings. Just add smoked paprika and spicy pepper flakes if you want to make it red!

Our version of chimichurri includes a scoop of unflavoured Green Superfood Blend so we’re calling it Supergreen Chimchurri!

Equipment You'll Need

  • Knife
  • Garlic crusher (optional)
  • Large jar with a lid

Ingredients

  • 5g (1 serving) unflavoured Green Superfood Blend
  • 125ml virgin olive oil
  • 2 tbsp (30ml) red wine vinegar
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • Large handful (30g or ½ cup) parsley
  • 1 red chili pepper
  • 1 tsp oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste

How To Make Supergreen Chimichurri

  1. Finely chop the parsley, oregano and chilli pepper.
  2. Finely chop the garlic, or mince it with a garlic crusher.
  3. Pour the olive oil into a mixing bowl or large jar and add the chopped ingredients, Green Superfood Blend, red wine vinegar, and season with salt and pepper. Mix well.
  4. Leave the sauce to rest for at least an hour before using, to release all the flavours into the oil.

Top Tips

  • Add a dash of lemon juice to balance out the oil and spicy chili
  • To reduce prep time, use a food processor instead of chopping the ingredients by hand

Storage

Store your supergreen chimichurri in a jar with a lid and keep refrigerated for up to 3 weeks.
